What this signature is, legally
QuickSign places a simple electronic signature (SES) under eIDAS. Under Article 25(1) of the eIDAS Regulation (EU) 910/2014 an electronic signature may not be denied legal effect or admissibility as evidence solely because it is electronic. A qualified signature (QES) always has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature (Article 25(2)); QuickSign is not a QES. Under Dutch law a SES can have the same legal effect if the method used is sufficiently reliable for the purpose and circumstances (Article 3:15a of the Dutch Civil Code); in a dispute, the court assesses the evidence. A SES is usable for many business agreements. QuickSign is not suitable for documents that by law require a notary, court or public authority; where the law requires a written agreement, your identity must also be sufficiently established (Article 6:227a of the Dutch Civil Code), and an e-mail code is often not enough for that.
As evidence BuiltSign records: the confirmed e-mail address, the SHA-256 hash of the document before and after signing, the confirmed declarations with text version and UTC timestamp, and the audit certificate with a verifiable evidence hash. The signature is embedded as an image and audit report in the PDF; it is not an embedded cryptographic PAdES signature.

- Yes. You pay nothing and need no account. You can sign up to three documents per day per e-mail address.
- The document is stored encrypted in Europe and only used to place your signature and send the signed document back. Seven days after the session starts, the document, the signed PDF and your contact details are deleted automatically. The audit certificate and evidence hashes remain verifiable.
- A simple electronic signature (SES) under eIDAS. It may not be denied legal effect or admissibility as evidence solely because it is electronic. Under Dutch law a SES can have the same legal effect as a handwritten signature if the method is sufficiently reliable for the purpose and circumstances (Article 3:15a of the Dutch Civil Code). - No. The e-mail code only confirms that you have access to the e-mail address. To verify signers by SMS or ID document, use a trial account.

- You enter the requester's e-mail address. They receive the signed document as an attachment or via a secure download link valid for 48 hours, plus a link to verify the document. Replies go to your e-mail address.
- PDF only, up to 25 MB. Protected PDFs and PDFs with active content, such as scripts or embedded files, are rejected. Every file is also scanned for malware.
