What is the certificate?
The BuiltSign certificate is a page automatically added to every signed PDF. It contains an immutable summary of all signing data.
- Certificate ID
- A unique identifier per document — use this to verify the signature at builtsign.com/verify
- Signers
- Name and email address of each signer, with the timestamp of their signature
- IP addresses
- The IP address of each signer at the moment of signing
- Verification method
- How identity was confirmed: email verification and/or Stripe Identity
- Document hash
- A cryptographic hash of the original document — proof that the document has not been altered

Advanced identity verification
When a sender enables ID verification, BuiltSign uses an advanced AI-powered verification system. The signer scans their government ID and takes a selfie. Our system automatically matches the two and determines a confidence score. The result — verified or not — is recorded in the audit trail. BuiltSign does not store a copy of the ID document.

Via the embedded certificate page
Open the signed PDF. The last page contains the full certificate with all signing data, dates, timestamps, and the verification ID.
