Is a signature by email or online legally valid?
For many contracts a simple electronic signature (SES) under eIDAS is appropriate; which method fits depends on the risk, the evidence you need and any form requirements. Under Dutch law such a signature can have the same legal effect as a handwritten one if the method is sufficiently reliable. Documents that legally require a notarial deed, such as real estate transfers, still require a notary.

Under the eIDAS regulation an electronic signature may not be denied legal effect or admissibility as evidence solely because it is electronic, and under Dutch law it can have the same legal effect as a handwritten signature if the method is sufficiently reliable.
